A good duvet from a reliable brand. But unfortunately the polyester cover is not a hit with me!

I must admit, I was sceptical about buying this duvet! I am not the biggest fan of polyester and this Living Duck Feather duvet has a cover that’s 65 percent polyester and 35 percent cotton. What swayed me to make the purchase? Everything else about it! It’s from Argos, which is a well-established brand and in my experience highly reliable, it’s received great reviews, it’s filled with 100 percent duck feather and the cover is technically not entirely polyester, so I thought maybe it’ll be ok!

On the whole it’s not a bad duvet. It’s warm and snug, thanks to the duck feather and It’s easy to look after as well. It’s not bad value for money either, especially when you take into account the natural filling and high tog rating. But the polyester cover spoils it! There’s no breathability whatsoever with polyester, which is one of the reasons I tend to stay away. Since cotton breathes well, I thought it would improve the duvet, but for me it really doesn’t make much of a difference. I also don’t think it feels particularly nice either. The luxuriousness of the duck feather filling would be much better suited to a softer cover material.

Overall, if we don’t take the material of the cover into consideration, this duvet could well be faultless. But for me, the polyester just doesn’t work.
