A great environmental option. Made of recycled down and feathers, it is a lovely, cosy duvet .

It’s that time of year when many want to curl up under a warm and cosy duvet and wait for Spring!  Unfortunately, that is not possible for most of us but you can get a warm feeling by making your next duvet an eco-friendly recycled one.  I always prefer a natural feather and down duvet, I love the light but cosy feel of them and the Soak & Sleep Re:Down 9 tog recycled duvet has proved perfect for me!    I am thrilled with it!  It is great quality and made from 100% recycled products.  The high quality 100% cotton cover and 15% down and 85% feather fill have been thoroughly washed and treated at high temperatures without the use of chemicals to make a brand new lovely warm duvet.  Unlike some ‘non-recycled’ feather duvets, this duvet doesn’t even smell .  The filling is well-distributed in separate ‘pockets’ with no feathers poking through the neatly stitched cover.

The only thing that was slightly disappointing was that the duvet came in a plastic carry case – hopefully this can be recycled. I did also receive a pack of plastic duvet cufflinks, which are a good idea but as I haven’t got a second duvet to attach them to yet, they could go to waste.  May be I will buy a 4.5 tog Re:Down duvet as it is also available as well as an All Seasons (4.5 and 9 can clip together to make a super warm 13.5 tog for Winter).

When choosing a new duvet, it is important to me that it meets various industry standards and this duvet does exactly that as it is  OEKO-Tex (testing for use of no harmful substances), Global Recycled Standard and NOMITE approved (for dust mite allergy sufferers).

The label says that the recycled duvet is machine washable and can be tumble dried on a low setting but I haven’t tried this and to be honest, I probably won’t, as it only recommends doing this every 6-12 months and I will probably get it professionally cleaned, as I don’t have a big enough machine.

I am somewhat surprised by the good quality of this duvet given that it is made from reused materials and I am sure we will see an increase in popularity of this kind of recycled product.
